If you're thinking about getting your own garden room, then you may also be wondering whether there is a 'garden room maximum size' that you must adhere to. We're here to explain the maximum size of our garden rooms so you can find out how big your garden room can be!
Is there a size limit for a garden room?
If you're looking to add a garden room to your property, you should firstly ensure that your garden room is allowed under permitted development rules. If not, then you may need to get planning permission for your garden room.
The following rules may have an impact on a garden room's maximum size and how big it can be, so ensure that your property/garden room meets the following rules before having anything installed.
It is important to note that 'permitted development' only applies to dwelling houses. If you have a flat or maisonette, or you plan on adding a garden room to your business property for example, you will require planning permission for your garden room. Similarly, if you live in a conservation area or a listed building, you will also require planning permission for a garden room.
How big can my garden room be if I live in a conservation area?
If you live in a conservation area, the garden room maximum area for buildings more than 20 metres away from your property is 10 square metres.
On the other hand, if you wish to have your garden room attached to the side of your house or the boundary of your property, you will need to seek planning permission for your garden room regardless.
Garden room maximum sizes
We offer bespoke sizes for our garden rooms. We know that there's never a one-size-fits-all when it comes to properties and their sizes.
The maximum width of your garden room can be the same size of the property you're installing it against, or however long you can make it depending on the 50% area rule that we mentioned above, unless you'd like to request planning permission.
Our garden room width varies from 2 metres to unlimited, depending on your property, where you place your garden room, and whether your property adheres to planning permission rules. The depth of our garden rooms range from 1.5m-5m depending on your property also.
If you wish to opt for a garden room width of more than 7 metres, then the installation will require an extra central post to secure the infrastructure.
