A lot of people don't like bungalows, and some even use the word 'bungaloid' as a negative adjective for small buildings they find unsightly. However, it is the opinion of the SunSpaces team that lots of bungalows look very lovely indeed; those sweet little one-storey homes are cosy, comfortable, and - in the right hands - capable of looking just as stylish as any other home. Plus, those who live in bungalows don't have to worry about vacuuming the stairs, a perk that could make even the most squalid space seem appealing!
Of course, the main drawback of living in a bungalow is the lack of space. For some, that's a big part of their appeal (after all, why live in a mansion-sized property if it's just you, your partner, and your relatively few possessions?); other bungalow-dwellers, however, find themselves frustratingly limited by their ultra-compact homes.
But help is at hand. If you're looking to add a little extra space to your intimate one-storey abode, our
sunrooms are the perfect solution!
SunSpaces' stylish, easy-to-build sunrooms are great for bungalows because...
- They generally require no planning permission (unless built on a border)
- They can be installed without any professional help (each one comes with an assembly guide and instructional DVD to help you get the job done)
- They cost significantly less than conservatories
- They look great and can be used in all sorts of ways (if you'd like some suggestions, click here)
Extending your home with a SunSpaces
garden room opens up all kinds of possibilities - just think of what you could do with that extra space!
Here are just a few examples of how our garden rooms can be used:
1) Outdoor Dining Room
Our easy-to-build DIY garden rooms make excellent dining spaces. If you're used to eating off your lap in the living room, we can help you to create an elegant, secluded dining room where you can sit up to the table and really appreciate the meal and the company of the people you're eating with. Get the good crockery out, because you'll be hosting a lot of dinner parties from now on!

5) Outdoor Office
Working at home can be quite distracting, particularly if there are other people in the house at the same time. Using one of our garden rooms as your home office allows you to get away from the TV and any other distractions so that you can get your work done in peace without interruptions. Find out more >
Most of the garden structures we supply and install here at SunSpaces are attached to their parent properties in some way - usually, the veranda or garden room will be adjoined to the rear or side wall of the customer's house. However, customers do occasionally ask us if their garden rooms can be entirely detached...and the answer is
yes, they can!
Adding one of our detached garden rooms to your property is a fantastic way to create a tranquil outdoor retreat that lets you retreat from the hustle and bustle of home life. This customer, for example, installed one of our
verandas at the end of their garden path, using the structure to create a lovely outdoor reading nook:
Wouldn't you love to spend a sunny afternoon sat on that sofa, book in one hand, glass of wine in the other?
A detached garden room can serve as a peaceful personal space that in every way is entirely separate from your actual house (and all the stressful stuff that happens there). That said, your outdoor retreat doesn't have to be reserved solely for you - it can also make a great place for dinner parties, barbecues, and gatherings of friends.
We can't imagine a more perfect venue for a back garden BBQ party!

If you're interested in our garden rooms, but you'd like to take a closer look at what we have to offer before you make any purchasing decisions, then we strongly recommend a visit to one of our outdoor living showrooms. We have locations in both
South Wales and
St Albans, making us easily accessible from most places in England and Wales.
Why visit your nearest SunSpaces showroom?
Because, to quote Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, there ain't nothing like the real thing! We think we've done a pretty good job of showing off our products here on the SunSpaces website, but things like garden rooms and verandas really must be seen in the flesh (or, indeed, the metal) in order to properly appreciate their appeal.
Visiting your local SunSpaces showroom will also give you the opportunity to speak with us face-to-face. Garden rooms are really just the start of what we're able to offer our customers; we do our best to provide a completely holistic outdoor living service, and we'd love to discuss our various other products - including our garden furniture and outdoor flooring options - with you in person. If you're interested, we can even start putting together a
3D design of your garden room!

We're big fans of minimalism here at SunSpaces; the less-is-more look really appeals to us, and we think that our sleek garden rooms are perfect for such designs.
Minimalism - by its very nature - doesn't require all that much in the way of accessorising, but if you are thinking of trying a minimal design in your own garden room, here are 5 items that we think will suit your needs perfectly:
Chrome Floor Lamp with Black Shade
This striking black floor lamp is perfect for a minimal design scheme, and it's bound to look brilliant in your SunSpaces garden room.
If, on the other hand, you'd prefer a lamp that's small enough to put on a table, then this bold little number will do the trick rather nicely!
Marimekko Unikko Pillowcase
This pillowcase pattern has a beautiful, almost Japanese appearance - use it on the cushions in your minimal sunroom design for comfortable, stylish results!
Mike White Coffee Table
Straight lines are a staple of any minimal design, and this pretty white coffee table uses straight lines to create a very arresting piece of furniture. It would also make the perfect home for your flower pot table lamp (see above!)
Nordic Cariboo Rug
Finally, this simple black rug will add the perfect finish to your minimal garden room and provide a bit of extra comfort underfoot.
