Our stunning glass sun rooms and garden patio verandas are amazingly versatile spaces that you can use all year round, whatever the weather! SunSpaces are suitable for all sorts of purposes – whether you need a workout space, an office, an art studio or even just some extra room for storage, our garden rooms offer endless possibilities.

The garden is a great place to spend time with family and friends, but the British climate makes this difficult during the autumn and winter months. However, you can change that by adding one of our attractive garden rooms to your property! Their 8mm thick glass walls keep bad weather out, and adding a garden room heater to your SunSpace means you can enjoy it even in winter.

Here at SunSpaces, we supply a range of high-quality garden buildings to suit your lifestyle. Constructed from the very best materials and available in a variety of contemporary designs, our garden rooms and verandas allow you to make the most of your outdoor space, come rain or shine.

Sunroom FAQs

What is a garden room?

A garden room is a glass structure that can be built either against the outer wall of your property, or detached as a stand-alone building. Unlike verandas, garden rooms have enclosed walls/windows, allowing you to make the most of your outdoor spaces all year round, no matter the weather!

What is the difference between a garden room and a conservatory?

Unlike conservatories, the majority of garden rooms don’t require planning permission to install, and the installation process is significantly faster and easier than building a conservatory – in fact, a garden room can be installed in as little as 2 to 3 days! Also, conservatories are typically made of UVPC with glass windows and a polycarbonate roof, whereas garden rooms are often made entirely of glass.

How much do garden rooms cost?

At SunSpaces, we offer a range of garden rooms to suit different budgets and garden projects. Our sunrooms start from around £11,000 while our stylish verandas start from around £6,000.

Can garden rooms be used in winter?

Our glass garden rooms are built using 8mm thick safety glass that’s designed to trap heat while also providing excellent strength and durability. This means that our glass garden rooms can be customised with lighting and heating systems for year-round use.

Do I need planning permission for a garden room?

Extensions and conservatories often require planning permission, but over 90% of SunSpaces projects can be completed without planning permission. If your project does require planning permission, our team of experts will be able to help you through the entire process – see our Planning Advice page for more information

Can I walk on the roof of my garden room?

Our roofs can support a weight of approximately 65kg per square metre, but we recommend using a scaffolding board to spread the load further.

Can I use a wood burner or gas fire pit in my garden room?

Ventilation should be considered when using either of these items. Please discuss this with your sales consultant – in the past, we have sometimes cut the glass roof of a SunSpaces garden room to accommodate a chimney.

Can I use indoor furniture in my garden room?

Since a garden room is effectively part of your garden rather than an extension of the house, we recommend using outdoor furniture (e.g. rattan chairs) and fabrics that are suitable for outdoor environments.

Are garden rooms secure?

SunSpaces garden rooms should be considered a part of your garden rather than an extension of your house. We do offer lockable options for the side panels, but these are not security locks – any items stored in your garden room should be thought of as having been left in the garden.

Will a garden room add value to my property?

Yes, adding a garden room to your home is likely to increase the property’s value. It provides additional space, makes your garden more attractive, and will appeal to a range of potential buyers – from parents who need extra space for their children to young professionals who might wish to use the space when working from home. For more information, read our blog: Do Garden Rooms Add Value to a Property?

Can a garden room be attached to my house?

Yes, our contemporary garden rooms can be installed alongside your home to extend your living space. If you’d prefer a free-standing structure, our garden rooms can be installed away from your house too.
